The World of Stephen King’s Books

The Shining is a horror novel by American author Stephen King published in 1977 The Shining focuses on Jack Torrence, a writer and recovering alcoholic, who accepts a position as an off-season caretaker in an isolated hotel called the Overlook Hotel. Jack's young son Danny possesses psychic abilities, which enable him to see aspects from the hotel's horrific past. Soon, the supernatural forces inhabiting the hotel influence Jack's sanity, leaving his wife and son in incredible danger. The Shining

The story follows the exploits of seven children as they are terrorized by an eponymous being, which exploits the fears and phobias of its victims in order to disguise itself while hunting its prey. "It" primarily appears in the form of a clown in order to attract its preferred prey of young children.

Under the Dome is a science fiction novel by Stephen King published in November 2009. Set in and around a small Maine town, it tells an intricate, multi-character and point-of-view story of how the town's inhabitants contend with the calamity of being suddenly cut off from the outside world by an impassable, invisible barrier; one that literally drops out of a clear blue sky.

Carrie Set in the then-future year of 1979, it revolves around the eponymous Carrietta "Carrie" N. White, a shy high school girl who uses her newly discovered telekinetic powers to exact revenge on those who tease her. Much of the book is written in an epistolary structure, using newspaper clippings, magazine articles, letters, and excerpts from books to tell how Carrie destroyed the fictional town of Chamberlain, Maine.

The Green Mile The Green Mile is a 1996 a novel written by Stephen King. It tells the story of death row supervisor Paul Edgecombe's encounter with John Coffey, an unusual inmate who displays inexplicable healing and empathetic abilities.

Pet Sematary Pet Sematary is a 1983 horror novel by Stephen King. It was nominated for a World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1984, and was later made into a film of the same name. It tells about the Creed family which moved to the small town of Ludlow, Main. Soon they discover a pet cemetery in that location. Pets that were buried there come to life, but their purpose was to harm and injure their owners and other people.

11/22/63 11/22/63 is a novel about a time traveler who attempts to prevent the assassination of President John Kennedy, which occurred on November 22, 1963.

The novel required deep research to accurately portray the late 1950s and early 1960s. King commented on the amount of research it required, saying "I've never tried to write anything like this before. It was really strange at first, like breaking in a new pair of shoes.”
