Goal Setting Model4

Student Knowledge Expectation: You will be able to… Summarize strategies for coping with loss and grief.1

Coping With Loss Or Grief Helpguide.org2 provides information and strategies for coping with loss or grief. Use the Helpguide.org2 webpage on coping with grief and loss to complete the notes outline.

Student Skill Expectation: You will be able to… Use resources that provide valid and reliable mental and emotional health information.1

MEH Health Information You can get mental and emotional information from a variety of resources, such as professionals, programs, books, etc. Nowadays, the main source of information is the Internet.

MEH Health Information The Internet can be a good source of MEH information, but it can also be a not so good source of information. Therefore, it is important to know how to find and use valid and reliable websites. Valid and reliable means factual and trusted

MEH Health Information Use .gov, .org, or .edu websites. You can use .com or .net websites, but make sure you know who made the website or wrote the piece. Was it a psychiatrist, counselor, psychology, or someone qualified to truly give MEH information.

Stress Search the Internet for valid/reliable information about at least three effects of stress and three strategies for stress management that you could use. Make sure you cite the websites you used.

Conclusion Now that you have demonstrated that you can find and use valid/reliable MEH information, the next step is being able to put information you find into practice and use it in real life.

Student Knowledge Expectation: You will be able to… Evaluate effective strategies for dealing with stress.1

Evaluating Strategies Now that you have a few ideas about how to manage stress from valid/reliable websites, it’s time to put them into practice to see if we can use them in real life.

Evaluating Strategies Take at least one of the strategies you found for managing stress and put it into practice (give it a try). Then, report on how well it worked.
