Personal Statement Assignment   Personal Ethics Statement: Many organizations and associations have publicly shared ethics statements that members are expected to accept, uphold, and practice. You will develop and share a personal ethics statement that will address the nature, significance, characteristics, parameters, practice, and implications of ethics and ethical behavior from your personal perspective. Nature What are ethics? Are they important (or unimportant)? Why? Are they grounded in anything? For you? For others? Some? All? Significance What role do they play in human life and interaction? Does this change from one context to another? Does this role extend without limit? Are there limits and/or degrees (and why)? Characteristics What does all this mean? How do you practice ethical behavior and communication? Is there a difference between practicing ethical behavior and not practicing unethical behavior? How does the theory or abstract statement of ethics get translated into the actual performance? Parameters Are there considerations that make ethics more or less a consideration? Do settings, parties, and/or other variables change the commitment to or definition of ethics? Practice How do you ensure you put into practice what you have outlined? Are there protocols that can or should be followed? Do these vary from individual to family to group/social to group/professional, etc? Implications Other comments and/or considerations What does this mean for others? How would it work for others? Examples, illustrations, discussion, etc.
