Managed Parking solutions

History Town of Breckenridge conducted several parking & transportation studies over 30 years Many suggested implementation of paid parking (and construction of a parking structure) There was no appetite from any seated Council In 2015 the Parking & Transit taskforce, which was created in December 2014, recommended Council consider paid parking in the core

History 2015 – Council said no to paid parking; moved forward with other management strategies 2015/2016 Hired Nelson Nygaard (NN) to help determine best strategies for parking & traffic management Summer 2016 - NN consultants made several recommendations including… paid parking in core December 1, 2016 TOB went live with on-street, in core paid parking

What were we trying to achieve? We were NOT trying to generate revenue Improve availability of on-street parking in core for customers Ensure 1-2 available spaces on each block Reduce circling

Town Core Managed Parking Priced Parking – On Street – initial costs Cost : $9,000/unit; Estimated Units: 68 Worked with Parkeon to get kiosks installed before winter Community Outreach – Hired “Launch” to help market paid parking Developed logo for Parking & Transportation plan Marketing plan
