Starter of the Day Pick up a disclosure Pick up two long papers from the front table. Decorate one side of each paper however you would like (this will be your sketchbook so make sure it is school appropriate).

Welcome to Jewelry. What it’s all about.

Agenda Review of last time Go over book binding. Create two sketchbooks. Disclosure statement. Exit Ticket

Last time We learned about origami Each of you did 3 different origami techniques. Once done you reflected on what you had done for the day. If you were not here it is your responsibility to make up the work within 5 days.

Supplies Pick up the following things from the front. 20 regular pieces of paper 2 strings 1 needle 1 push pin 1 small folded paper If you get done early begin reading the disclosure statement.

Book Binding Types Section Sewn - Your most secure binding method. Here pages are folded together into sections (signatures). Each section is then sewn into the following section along the spine. The spine is then glued together for extra support and the cover then attached. A Section Sewn book, regardless of page count will be able to lay flat.

Studio Time Stitch your book and tie off. Draw pictures with ink Or Write text to decorate your book binding. Once done turn in

Course Objectives By the end of this course, you will be able to: Assemble and create works of art in multiple forms, manipulate art media, and organize designs with the elements and principle of art. Find meaning by analyzing , criticizing, and evaluating works of art. Create meaning in art. Find meaning in works of art through setting and other modes of learning.

Learning Process: Components for Each Unit Critiques: Self and group: An opportunity for students to evaluate their work based off of the rubric and figure out how they can improve as artists. Main Projects: Will encompass the whole unit into one art project and be ready to display in the classroom, school, and community. Mini-Projects: Mini-projects are used to learn new skills and techniques that students will use for their main project. Introduction & Homework: Homework will only be assigned when it is deemed necessary for the assignment. Introductions will be used in bell work and exit passes. Class Assignments, Credit & Late Work: Assignments in this course will be both individual and group assignments. All work needs to be done by the due dates issued.

Grading Scale and Point Breakdown Daily projects and in class assignments including starter assignments and exit passes 30% of the grade Assessments with main projects, mini projects, and critiques 70% of the grade

Class Rules & Computers All rules in your school handbook apply to this class as well, be familiar with them, you will be accountable for all the rules.

Disciplinary Action Cell phone use in class during lecture time or group work time: 1st offense –teacher reminds student of policy. 2nd – teacher gives written warning of infraction. 3rd – teacher writes up student for grouse insubordination and student is sent to an administrator for further disciplinary action to be determined by the administrator. Inappropriate language: Deduction of participation points If the usage is excessive a parent/guardian will be contacted Unsafe behavior Sent to another class (Lyon or Zielinski)

Required Materials & Fees Students will need to bring a pencil to class daily for writing in class & daily sketches. Fees: Students are required to pay a fee for this course. $15 – for students or $7 – for students with fee waver

Exit questions On the cover of your books write Book 1 & Book 2 In book 1 turn to the first page On the first page write the following “Jewelry Making: the activity or occupation of making small wearable sculptures.”
