“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible”. (Hebrews 11:1-3) “… looking to Jesus, the founder and perfector of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God”. (Hebrews 12:2) Faith is the certainty of things that comes when we are convinced that Jesus, having overcome evil, sin and death upon the cross around 33 A.D., is now powerfully reigning and ruling at the right hand of His Heavenly Father.
The best scientific study can offer us are theories of what happened at the beginning of the beginning. Scientific theory can only offer support of a theory through consistently, replicable results, so any theory related to the beginning of things is limited from the get go, because no one can ever replicate “absolute nothingness” in an experimental setting. Any theory about the beginning of things requires an exercise of faith. The follower of Jesus finds him or herself in a privileged position because we have been given a powerful revelation of the beginning of things from the only one present for this event – God Himself.
Three key truths of the Scriptural creation account Creation occurred: Intentionally, In an orderly manner, and With good result
Our world did not just randomly emerge from some cosmic goop, but was intentionally and purposefully created to provide humanity with the raw materials to be fruitful and multiply, giving thanks in all things to the God who created it all.
Scripture presents us with a God who created the universe around us in an orderly and fine-tuned manner for its long term sustainability.
Our universe was not generated by some collection of neutral processes, but was created by a good, meaningful, and beautiful Creator, who imbued these same qualities into the world around us.
The evidence for creation is there, but it’s a reality grasped by faith – a sincere trust that the core truths of the unobservable beginning of the beginning have been revealed to us by a loving, good, meaningful and beautiful God.
