LGPS Maternity Maternity Periods There are 3 different periods of standard Maternity Leave running concurrently Statutory Maternity/Adoption Pay Period (week 1-39) Ordinary Maternity /Adoption Leave (week 1-26) Additional Maternity /Adoption Leave (week 27-52) Pay cut - must take place after 1 April 2008
LGPS Maternity Member Contributions – Ordinary and Additional Leave Paid If a member receives any pay (SMP or Occupational) during Maternity, then they pay Standard Contributions automatically based on the amount of pay the actually receive If a member is paying AVCs they have the choice whether or not to pay If a member is paying ARCs or Purchase Contributions they must pay these contributions and they must be paid in full Pay cut - must take place after 1 April 2008
LGPS Maternity Employer Contributions Ordinary and Additional Leave Paid Employer contributions are based on the pay the member would have received if they were not on Maternity Leave Pay cut - must take place after 1 April 2008
LGPS Maternity Ordinary Leave Unpaid Member Contributions If no pay is paid to a member this period is deemed paid If a member is paying AVCs they have the choice whether or not to pay If a member is paying ARCs or Purchase Contributions they must pay these contributions and they must be paid in full Pay cut - must take place after 1 April 2008
LGPS Maternity Ordinary Leave Unpaid Employer Contributions Even if no pay is paid to a member in this period the employer must pay employer contributions based on the pay the member would have received if they were not on Maternity Leave Pay cut - must take place after 1 April 2008
LGPS Maternity Additional Leave Unpaid Member Contributions If the member is not paid for this period, then the leave is classed as Unpaid and the member has to choose whether or not to pay contributions within 30 days of the return to work Pay cut - must take place after 1 April 2008
LGPS Maternity Additional Leave Unpaid Employer Contributions If the has chosen not to pay for this period, no Employer Contributions are due If the member does want to pay, then employer contributions are due, based on the pay the member would have received if they were not on Maternity Leave Pay cut - must take place after 1 April 2008
LGPS Maternity Forms – SCC employees MA1 – notification of start of Maternity Leave MA2 – notification of end of Maternity Leave Pay cut - must take place after 1 April 2008
LGPS Maternity Forms – non-SCC employees MA5 – notification of start of Maternity Leave MA6 – notification of end of Maternity Leave MA3 – form sent to member for choice of whether to pay contributions MA7 – explanation of the separate periods of Maternity Leave Pay cut - must take place after 1 April 2008
