We are keen for us all to work together to deliver more innovative and flexible housing schemes across Hampshire that are in essence, led by the local community.

Community Led Housing Officer Catherine Kirkham Community Led Housing Officer Helping communities to deliver their own housing solutions in Hampshire. Hampshire Community Housing Partnership Hub Expansion to cover the whole of Hampshire.

The Hampshire Community Housing Partnership (HCHP) Shelter is one of our basic needs but many people in the UK are unable to access an affordable, secure and suitable home. As a consequence, communities are coming together to deliver their own housing solutions. Ensuring homes they feel are needed are built for those on housing need in their community. We help communities deliver their own housing solutions. We support people to form groups and develop housing. We help groups to clarify their goals, access expert advice, secure funding and find suitable development sites. We provide support every step of the way

The problem… 1. We need more affordable homes in Hampshire! Average Hampshire home = £330,000 Annual income required = £85,000 Average annual income in Hampshire = £31,500 2. In the long term renting privately is actually more expensive than purchasing a property in Hampshire 3. We need to tackle social isolation in Hampshire! 3.64 million people live alone in the UK 4. There is not much diversity in the housing stock in Hampshire.

So…. What is Community Led Housing? 3.64 million people live alone in the UK. Creative solutions are needed to meet the housing needs of older people as many feel lonely and isolated. Community led housing is about…. Enabling groups to make an informed decision about what is best for them Diversifying housing supply Innovation Empowering communities to become self-sufficient Building collaboration and skills within the community Versatility Promoting sustainability within the community
