Presentation transcript:

November 7 - 11, 2016 Literacy This week, we are going to finish up our unit on Fables by having an assessment on Friday. Before the assessment, we will focus on dialogue and reading with expression. This past week, the learners read Fables that were designed as plays, so we are really trying to focus on reading with the character’s point of view in mind. We will also compare and contrast two Fairy Tales to “see” one story from two different perspectives. The students have been struggling with explaining what the word “genre” means. Please quiz your child on this.  We have learned that genres are different types of stories. Science We did not have time for our experiment this past week, so we will complete our flossing experiment at the beginning of this week. The learners will also incorporate literacy and writing this week by creating an informational writing piece on how to take care of teeth. Math We are beginning to transfer our knowledge of multiplying by 5’s to being able to multiply by 4’s. By the end of the year, the learners should be fluent in their 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. Right now it is fine for them to make groups with their fingers and skip count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s, but our ultimate goal is for them to be able to quickly answer 4x5=20 without needing a strategy. Quizzing your child over the facts at home by creating flash cards would be a great help! November 5 – Fall Festival at A.T. from 12:00 – 3:00 with Live Auction Beginning at 3:00 November 6 – Payton’s Birthday! November 7 & 8 – No School November 22 – Burgundy & Gold Day and Beta Fun Day (more info to come) November 23-25 – No School November 25 – Liam’s Birthday! A very kind person nominated me as WBKO’s Hometown Hero and WBKO’s Whitney Davis came to interview me at school on Wednesday! I am so thankful for this opportunity! 
