Homework: Winter Break Review Do Now: Self-edit your essay in black or blue pen. Read aloud to yourself. Any edits you make will be considered final. Do it. Time: 7 minutes – check that homework is completed during this time.

Objective: SWBAT demonstrate 80% mastery of familiar conventions. Agenda: Do Now Paper Collection Whiteboard Word Game Closing

Pass in your papers. Be sure your name is on the assignment sheet. 3 minutes to share.

Whiteboard Word Game (WWG)* In teams, you will play a game that tests your knowledge from this week’s lessons. You will be asked a question, will have some time to confer with your team, and then will write your answer on your whiteboard. Each round has four questions, and each question is worth one point. The winning team’s players will be crowned the class wordsmiths. It’s totally cool. Trust me. *Patent pending

You (Plural)* Ready for This? With your teammate, decide whose binder is the most complete and well organized. This will be the binder your partnership uses. With each round, trade the binder and whiteboard duties. When you are in charge of the binder, you are the only person who can access the resources. Then, put everything else under your desk. *Get it? Anybody? C’mon, y’all.

Rule Reminder Do not touch your marker or white board until the question has been read and your teacher says, “Go!” Then, discuss with your team and write your answer. When you finish writing, place the board face down. When your teacher says, “Reveal,” hold the board up, facing your teacher.
