My Piece of the Puzzle... … Or Puzzled?

As they entered the room, participants were given a business-sized card with one of the 10 letters or numbers, in the upper left corner, that created the theme and the affirmation. That letter or number would be their piece of the puzzle, and their job would be to put the message together by vol-unteering a word beginning with their letter, or relevant to their number. We started with the letter U…. See how many words you can think of that would be relevant toward our discussion, beginning with the letter U?

in every life and on every day…. How I feel affects other people!   ____________________________ I am an important piece of the puzzle in taking action toward preventing suicide… in every life and on every day…. P P Z E Z L U 3 24 6 5 7

a disorder that often has gone Unrecognized and Untreated UNDERSTAND 90% of people who die by suicide have a potentially treatable mental disorder at the time of their death… a disorder that often has gone Unrecognized and Untreated U Although we may hear that someone has "committed suicide," most people find "died by suicide" to be more objective and less judgmental.  It is generally accepted to refer to "someone who died by suicide" with those words, or as a "suicide decedent.“ The term "successful suicide" can be hurtful and jarring … untreated, like depression or bipolar disorder The term “suicide” is best used to describe the act, but not the person who died in that way. Nobody wants to hear their loved one’s life summed up by the circumstances of their death. a suicide is never a success. Uncomfortable…

Ultimately… UGLY… Unnecessary… UNDERSTAND U Behavior Alcohol or drugs. Searching online. Recklessness. Withdrawn. Isolation. Erratic Sleep. Visiting or calling people to say goodbye. Prized possessions. Aggression. Mood Depression. Loss of interest. Rage. Irritability. Humiliation. Anxiety. Ultimately… UGLY… Unnecessary…
