Lesson 3 Mental Fitness What are some addictions YOU have??? Addiction: a repeated behavior; difficult to stop and has HARMFUL effects ex. Smoking; Gambling; Exercise Do not confuse w/ Compulsion(compulsive) Enabler: a person who knowingly or unknowingly supports the harmful behavior of another person

Self-Esteem: what you think of yourself; it can be high or low Higher = confidence & responsibility Lower = self doubt and insecurity

Personality: unique blend of physical, mental/emotional and social traits a) it is unique to you b) at your age you create an IDENTITY(look & style) Heredity: sum of traits of your parents ex. Blond hair, Blue eyes; Tall or Short Question??? What else affects what your identity will be??? Answer…Environment: everything that surrounds you Nature vs. nurture Out of your hands… what you will be, you will be! How you are raised will determine who you are to become!
