In the wild-type (left), each segment contains two (anterior and posterior) commissures. Defects found in netrin mutants are shown on the right. Commissures are often thin (upper arrowhead) and sometimes absent (lower arrowhead). Occasional breaks are also seen in the longitudinal connectives (asterisk).
