Welcome to Year 4 resilience honesty unity respect friendship responsibility

Aims of the evening To gain an overview of the curriculum and expectations. To find ways to support your child’s learning. To have a greater understanding of class routines. To answer any questions.

Year 4 Team Class Teacher – Miss Duffy Miss Mayor – Teaching Assistant (am)

Ways to support learning at home Reading Ideally 4/5 times a week. Both reading to you, hearing you read and reading by themselves. Reading Records expected in school each day. Books changed every Wednesday and Friday. Children are welcome to borrow school books from classes or library.

Homework Maths and English homework will be given weekly on a Thursday (for those wanting to complete at homework club). It must be handed in by 9.00 am the following Wednesday. Work relating to the half term topic or during that week for English and Maths when appropriate. Times table practise. Daily reading.

Spellings After a few weeks of settling into school, children will start their weekly spelling tests which will be on a Friday. The new spellings will then be given out for the following Friday. Most of the spellings will come from the year 3/4 curriculum and will be grouped into sounds so it’s easier for the children to learn.

Physical Education Wednesday – Swimming. ThursdayPM – PE kit needed in school.
