Basic monitoring requirements Level 3 diagnostics Annex 2. Minimum monitoring requirements 2.3.1 & 2.3.2. &2.3.3. Level 1: sensor/actuator of which at least two circuit continuity symptoms can be detected and reported (i.e. short circuit to ground, short circuit to power and open circuit). Level 2: sensor/actuator of which at least one circuit continuity symptom can be detected and reported (i.e. short circuit to ground, short circuit to power and open circuit). Level 3: sensor/actuator of which at least one symptom can be detected, but not reported separately. CLEPA expressed comment prior to CG telco in Aug that levels should be only applicable for circuit continuity diagnostics No Device circuits Level Circuit continuity Circuit rationality Basic monitoring requirements Circuit high Circuit low Open circuit Out of Range Performance/Plausibility Signal stuck Device not operational /Device not present CLEPA proposal 3 Appl. IMMA (Original text) Applicable Since prescription of Level 3 does not specifically states circuit continuity symptom, Level 3 is applicable to all symptoms including Circuit continuity, Circuit rationality, and Basic monitoring requirements.

Basic monitoring requirements Level 3 diagnostics No Device circuits Level Circuit continuity Circuit rationality Basic monitoring requirements Circuit high Circuit low Open circuit Out of Range Performance/Plausibility Signal stuck Device not operational /Device not present 22 Vehicle speed sensor 3 YES CLEPA proposal Appl. IMMA (Original text) Applicable Difference between original text and CLEPA proposal CLEPA Proposal (if level 3 becomes only applicable to the circuit continuity) Circuit rationality and Basic monitoring requirement are mandatory. IMMA Proposal (as in original text) Either one of Circuit rationality or Basic monitoring requirement is mandatory. IMMA disagree to CLEPA proposal, since this modification changes the content of requirement and may require significant change to the vehicle specification.
