Conference Cities & Water „Think globally, act locally! “ The conference was broadened into three sections: Cities & Water Security - need to addressing the challenges of urban water management and to strengthened the cooperation in broader water management of Europe`s river basins. CONTINUITY&SAFETY&SECURITY Cities & the River Management - by restoring and revitalizing rivers and deteriorated water spaces we can create more attractive public spaces with positive impact on local identity, culture and biodiversity . Conference Cities & Water „Think globally, act locally! “ The closing message and conclusions was broadened into tree sections: Cities & Water Security – e.g.: ... protection of drinking water resources; environment protection around water resources; retention and re-use of rainfall water in urban areas;  increasing the amount of green space and water bodies; minimalizing the negative impacts on the constructions with potential effects on quantity, quality and regime of surface and ground waters and etc... Cities & the River Management – e.g.: ...use of cultural, environmental, sport and recreational and economic potential of river; assessment of economic potential of river regarding the transport freight and tourism, creative industries and employment; withdrawal from passive forms of flood protection to promotion of active forms of flood protection; protection of riverside ecosystems and river basins and others... Cities & Smart Water Management – e.g.: ... increasing the amount of green space, draining and water surfaces; impacts of climate change mitigation, in particular through „circular economy“ ; stimulate innovative smart solutions within the rainfall buffering and management of rainwater; intensifying information and supporting/assistive campaign on water retention measures image and awareness, e.g.: by means of rainwater certification and measurement of projects...

Conference Cities & Water „Think globally, act locally! “ The result of initiative from the conference „ Water & Cities“ is new emerging platform - New Urban Water Agenda (NUWA) will build on established objectives and principles of sound urban water management such as UN SDGs, OECD urban water governance principles , the IWA principles of Water-Wise Cities and others. It will apply as appropriate the existing benchamrking systems such as the “City Blueprints” opened new avenues/platform improvement of city-level water steward-ship, in the spirit of smart and sustainable cities and the EWS methodology (The European Water Stewardship) and others.
