In the beginning… At the dawn of mankind, BILLIONS of years had already passed on Earth. At first, there was just nature and the power of human consciousness trying to sort out what nature is. Natural phenomena, especially that of the night sky, led to the origin of thoughts about who we are, where we were, and how did we get here.
Ancient Magic Many ancient cultures created explanations for natural occurrences in the form of magic, which evolved into traditions and eventually into religion. Indigenous people all over the world have a story that explained the origin of man and Earth through some form of religiosity.
Ancient Magic cont. Deities were created to “characterize” certain aspects of human personality and nature. Animals have been personified to also represent these qualities. We learned how to manipulate natural materials to continue our survival, and in the process discovered ways to use or control nature towards our will.
Foundations of Alchemy “Alchemy” originates from the work KHEM, the Egyptian name for Egypt meaning “black earth” . Greek philosophy mixed with Egyptian and Mesopotamian technology
Foundations of Alchemy cont. Relied on the FOUR natural elements: Earth, Fire, Water, and Air. Esoteric nature of alchemy relied on Hermetic doctrine and “spirit”-uality Alchemists sought to transform matter, mainly Lead into Gold. And in the process discovered many of the processes the were the foundation of modern chemistry
The ONE is All The “point within the circle” is an ancient symbol that ironically has evolved to help explain many aspects of the natural world as we know it.
The ONE is All
The QUAD The double duality known as four is essential to many aspects of our natural world. It is amazing that currently there are FOUR FUNDAMENTAL FORCES that physics and chemistry (the physics of atoms) use to explain how matter and energy behaves throughout the cosmos.
The QUAD
GRAVITY d2 “Weakest” of the 4 forces. Applies to MASS. More mass = more gravitational force. The sun contains 99.89% of all the mass in our “solar system”. Keeps the planets in orbit. Newton’s Law for Gravitational Force: Fg= G(M1 x M2) d2 Particles: Gravitons? Dark Matter?
Gravitational Force
“The bigger you are; the faster you burn”
WEAK NUCLEAR FORCE 1025 x Gravity Applies only at subatomic scale. Reason for radioactive decay and nuclear fission. Turns protons into neutrons releasing energy in the process. Particles: w & z bosons
Radiation
ELECTROMAGNETISM d2 1036 x Gravity Applies over vast distances (photons) but very weak because charges equalize . Much stronger the closer you get. Attraction / Repulsion Magnetic fields generated by sun and planets Coulomb’s Law of Electrostatic Force: Fe= K(Q1 x Q2) d2 Particles: protons, electrons, photons
Electromagnetic Spectrum
Magnetic Fields
EM and G?
STRONG NUCLEAR FORCE 1038 x Gravity Applies at the subatomic scale. What holds the nucleus of atoms together, also creates nuclear fusion. Journey into the QUANTUM REALM where the chance of anything happening has infinite possibilities!
ATOMIC BOMB!
THEORY of EVERYTHING Ever since Einstein unified gravity and electromagnetism, physicist have been souring to find the unification principle that would combine all four fundamental forces. Things become very strange in the QUANTUM RELAM!?! OMGWTF!!! This can be the answer behind the mystery of how the four forces work. What’s next?....STRING THEORY
Physicist Garrett Lisi’s Graphical Model
…And so it is String Theory proposes that even subatomic particles particle’s are made of vibrating strings of energy. Just the thought of it opens another realm of infinite possibilities! From the dawn of mankind to present day, our human minds have unraveled many of the magical forces of nature to become a way for the universe to know itself.
