A separate output can be initiated after a set number of consecutive failures to stop feed. The Tecscan Boardwatcher examines colour blocks, one for each station, printed on the trim at the lead edge of the board. The first colour (usually black) is repeated, one at each end. The Boardwatcher checks for registration colour to colour in either X or Y direction The Boardwatcher checks for missing or faded colour. The Boardwatcher checks board orientation/skew. An output is triggered on detection of an out of specification reading. This output can be used to operate a reject gate. At the same time an alarm beacon or sounder can also be triggered.
THIS IS THE NORMAL RUNNING SCREEN SHOWING A GOOD IMAGE. The top panel shows the image, the panel below that is reserved to store and show the last failure, and the reason for the failure is shown below that.
THE YELLOW PRINT STATION HAS GONE OUT OF REGISTER The system fails, outputs a signal to the reject gate and shows on screen the reason for the failure. Caption will read BOX 3 Y ERROR indicating that the third colour station has gone out of register in the Y direction. In addition the error is highlighted with a red tag on the saved image.
YELLOW PRINT STATION FAILED TO PRINT The yellow box has disappeared, this could be difficult to spot with the eye, but the system reliably picks this up. The caption tells the operator that the wrong number of colour boxes were found.
BLUE PRINT STATION HAS GONE OUT OF REGISTER In this case the blue station is at error. The caption now reads BOX 2 Y ERROR Indicating that the second print station has gone out of register in the Y direction. The faulty colour is also highlighted.
RED COLOUR MISSING In this case the red station has failed to print. The caption now reads WRONG NUMBER OF COLOURS FOUND (7) This means that it hasnt detected the expected 8 boxes (7 colours plus repeat of first colour).
GREEN HAS GONE OUT OF REGISTER IN THE X DIRECTION (Board moved at green station) The system has detected that the green block has moved in the X direction out of specification. The caption now reads BOX 4 X ERROR
