U.S. Entrance

Damaged Morale Casualties, length of war, and expenses made the war very unpopular. Desertions and mutinies for both sides Russia pulls out when Lenin comes to power in 1917 Germany is now free to send all of its troops to the western front

Gradual U.S. Entry Germans had been practicing unrestricted submarine warfare Sinking U.S. ships with citizens on them President Wilson declares the U.S. has the right to travel since they are “neutral.”

The Lusitania British ship that was sunk in 1915 Germans insist that it had supplies on it 128 Americans killed Germany agrees to stop sub-warfare 1917- Germany start sub warfare again

The Zimmerman Telegram British intercept a telegram from the German foreign minister to Mexico Allegedly, it promised Mexico the states of New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas for their support That is enough for the U.S. and in 1917 they enter the war.

Effects of U.S. Entry Huge morale boost in Europe since Russia left the fields. Fresh troops and supplies will help put the Allies “over the top.”

The End of Fighting In March of 1918, the Germans launch one final offensive Advanced 40 miles, but couldn’t handle the counter-attack William II realizes can’t win and he flees Revolts and governmental collapse followed in Germany and Austria-Hungary.

Armistice The Fighting officially ended on Nov. 11th at 11 a.m.-------The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
