Welcome to sixth grade! 08/18/2016 Write these important dates in your agenda: Fri. (08/19) – Floyd Spirit Wear Thurs. (08/25) – Spirit Night @ Chick-fil-A Fri. (08/26) – Cookie Forms/Money Due Turn in any signed documents to the 1st period bin. Homeroom and breakfast are over at 9:15. First period will begin immediately after announcements. If you are not eating, you must read something of your choice. HOMEROOM = SILENCE

Proofreading (Practice) Language Arts – Warm Up 08/18/16 Turn in your signed“B.Y.O.D.” sheet from last week. Proofreading (Practice) You will need your I.A.N. (Interactive Notebook) and your writing portfolio today. Finish proofreading the practice sheet on page 146 using the key on page 145.

Language Arts – Work Session 08/18/16 Essential Question: How can I clearly express and read necessary edits? Standard: ELACC6W4 - Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

Language Arts – Work Session 08/18/16 Rough Drafts – Proofreading Using the proofreading key on page 145, proofread an elbow partner’s rough draft and add the appropriate marks.

Language Arts – Closing Session 08/18/16 Checklist – Buddy Using your partner’s checklist, read through their rough draft and check the items they’ve accomplished on the “Checklist – Buddy” sheet in your writing portfolio. We will begin our final drafts tomorrow.

Be Sure to Get Your STEAM Folder Language Arts – E.L.T. 08/18/16 Be Sure to Get Your STEAM Folder Finish answering your sheet from yesterday (where you chose one scenario). Then, using the STEAM design process (see yesterday’s handout for help), create a device and image to solve your problem. After Lunch… Finish explaining and drawing your design/contraption.
