Today’s Goal: Begin to read and discuss A Wrinkle in Time. Outcomes: Demonstrate ability to apply “book etiquette.” Preview Wrinkle and make predictions. Examine new vocabulary in Wrinkle chapter 1. Determine the setting for Wrinkle. Identify and describe the main character in Wrinkle. Analyze chapter 1 to determine techniques for building suspense.

Starter #3: Before we begin reading, let’s look at the “ten dollar words” in this story.    Let’s start reading. As we read, determine who is telling the story: * Is it a character or an outside observer (a narrator who is not in the story)? * What is the “point of view” (or viewpoint)? * Through whose eyes do we see this story?
