Figure 1 Immunohistochemical expression of interleukin-2 (upper panels) and interferon-γ (lower panels) in human endometrial biopsy samples (magnification, ×630) from three groups of women and a negative control. The paraffin sections of peri-implantation endometrium were stained with monoclonal anti-human IL-2 antibody and with anti-human IFN-γ antibody. Peroxidase activity was visualized by application of diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride substrate and counterstained with hematoxylin. Glandular and stromal IL-2 expression were significantly higher in excessive responders compared with in moderate responders and in those from natural cycles. Interferon-γ expression in the glandular and stromal compartments was similar among the three groups.
