LESOTHO 2013

Early Friday morning and we all meet at the shop After n coffee and a quick check of the bikes and gear we set off southeast and towards Villiers. Just before we cross the toll gate we take the turnoff and turn right towards Frankfort. From there we head towards Reitz and then Bethlehem. After a quick rest we then head for the border post with Lesotho. Through the border post we will look for the first available tree to have lunch. After lunch we will carry on the road, winding left and right as we go over pass after pass with the most awe inspiring mountains on both sides. DAY 1

After a few kilometres we will pass Afri Ski and maybe pop in for a cold one. Once we have quenched our thirst we head down the dirt road and not long we will find the road we are looking for on the right. Once we have taken the road we will be rewarded with shear drop-offs on the one side and hanging cliffs on the other. Following the road and some river crossings later we will arrive at our first campsite for the night. DAY 1

DAY 1 Route

DAY 1

After a good nights rest we take the tar road to Katse Dam. After a visit to the dam wall, we then go I search of fuel. This we will find at a spaza shop where they fill your bike with 5L drums. After that were on dirt for about 40 km. It is then when we turn off down some road and the fun really starts. The road to the first town is fairly ride able, and progress is good. Its from here that you wish that you rather had a plastic than an adventure bike. DAY2

The road gets difficult and technical quickly, and you have to keep your wits about yourself. After a few river crossings, the road disappears altogether, and it is then when you meet the mountain you have to conquer. Strewn with rocks, it will take all your energy to master this foe. The stunning surroundings and mountains make it almost worth while. Once you are on top of the mountain you will be greeted by a village, and a short while later a main dirt road. This will be a welcome sight after the two track road you had just ridden. DAY 2

Once on this road you will have an easy ride with amazing sights along the way to the nearest town where we will fill up the bikes yet again for the last few kilometres to Sani Pass. When we arrive at Sani Pass Lodge we will have a nice cold one and reminisce about the days ride, and our tired an beaten body's will welcome the nights rest. DAY 2

Day 2

After a well deserved nights rest we have the daunting task of going down Sani Pass. Now as many a Adventure Rider will tell you, going up Sani Pass is tough in itself, but taking it slow we will eventually make it to the border post. From there its the long stretch back home, our minds and hearts filled with Adventure that is Lesotho. DAY 3
