Chapter 6 Erection Manual Format To replace “Construction Specifications”

Primary Sections 6.1 GENERAL INFORMATION 6.2 LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR COMPONENTS 6.3 ERECTION INSTRUCTIONS

6.1 GENERAL INFORMATION 6.1.1 Scope: This manual provides the assembly instructions for the steel bridge for use in the competition.

6.2 LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR COMPONENTS

6.2.1 Erection drawing Showing order in which members and/or assemblies are added to the evolving bridge.

6.2.2 Assembly drawings Showing the order in which individual members are added to create the assemblies, if any. Sheet 1 with numbers/letters and sequence.

6.2.3 Summary of members, equipment, hardware, and tools to include quantity Nonfabricated items such as bolts, nuts, hardhats, goggles, aprons etc. Sheets 2-3.

6.3 ERECTION INSTRUCTIONS

6.3.1 Preventive maintenance checks Recheck rule sizes and weight of components Inspect components for damage Sheets 4-6.

6.3.2 Staging layout Include all members, equipment, tools, hardware, temporary piers Sheet 7.

6.3.3 Work party required How many people? How many barges? Crew member designations

6.3.4 Erection Who, What, When, How ? All members, assemblies, equipment, and tools must be indicated in Section 6.2. Note location of any temporary piers. Sheets 8-20.

6.3.5 Breakdown Sheets 21-26.
