A: 400 In 1867, The British North American Act made Canada a dominion of Great Britain. Canada was allowed to govern themselves, but would remain loyal to Great Britain in times of war. In 1982 the last connection between Canada and Great Britain was dissolved, making Canada completely independent. Canada gained it’s independence peacefully, without war!
