Your final project will look like: Ima Student Cultures Project 10th Grade English Ms. Ward ROUGH DRAFTS CULTURES PROPOSAL CULTURES PROJECT All Rough Drafts in front pocket: Proposal Outline Rough draft of essay Rough drafts for product and creative pieces Good Copies will be hole-punched and in the center: Revised proposal Revised final outline Publishable copy of essay Product and creative pieces

What’s Next? Use your research to change your community! By this point, you should have turned in: a 1-2 page proposal with article attached, 7 annotated scholarly sources via Noodlebib, and a working outline. You have a rough draft (including citations and a works cited) of your essay due Wednesday. With your accepted proposal, you’ve convinced Ms. Ward that your topic is viable, but so what! You’ve got to influence a lot of people in order for change to happen! That’s the next step in the Culture Project! Use your research to change your community!

How do I change my community? Working individually or with a partner, you need to create a “product” to take outside of the classroom. Your product will be how you inform others of your topic. You will need to pick a specific audience. Do you want to change student behavior? Do you want to change parents? Do you want to change state senators or representatives? Do you want to change teachers? Do you want to change business owners?

What are examples of products? Put together a lesson plan complete with a PowerPoint, research articles, and activities to help your social studies teacher or English teach present your topic. Write an article for the Fordian on the need for change related to your topic. Film a public service announcement for H-Vision or Channel 11 about your topic. Prepare and have people sign a petition to support your cause. Write a letter to the editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer on your topic. Prepare a 20 -minute lesson on your topic to teach elementary or middle school students. Put together a website or social networking group to support your cause. Fundraise for your cause.

THE FINAL PROJECT IS DUE TUESDAY, JANUARY 19th.
