Geometric Translations of the World By: Lexi, Chance, Erik

What are Transformations? Transformations are changes in the position or size in an object. Translations Rotations Reflections

What is a Translation? At the park, Erik decided to go down the straight and narrow big kid slide. This is an example of a translation. Translations are when you move one object or item in any direction without rotating ( slide ).

What is a Reflection? One early morning, Chance looked in his bathroom mirror to make sure his hair was perfect and “ship-shape.” A Reflection is a mirror view ( Flip ).

What is a Rotation? Lexi decided to go outside and let the soft wind blow her new pinwheel around and around. This is an example of a rotation. A rotation is when a shape or object moves around in a circular way, without moving one point, like a pivot in basketball ( turn ).
