1. INTRODUCTION Very few National Met. Societies in developing countries Those that exist are weak because of various constraints

2. MEMBERSHIP Scientists in learning institutions mainly Universities.  Very few corporate members in most developing countries Few student members Very few others

3.RESOURCES Membership fees -very limited National Met. Services – but many still not doing this because of lack awareness of Met. Society

4. ACTIVITIES Newsletters/ Journal Conferences/ workshops Shows/ festivities/ schools Research pamphlets

5. CHALLENGES Lack of awareness – NMHS and others concerned Fear of competition Few activities Little international cooperation between Met. Societies Improve resources Lack of capacity

6. CONCLUSIONS Creation of awareness – public Improve collaboration with national Met. Services and related Institutions Need capacity building Improve cooperation between Met. Societies internationally
