PAPR Major Components Belt pack Filters Motor Batteries Filter Connection Hose Connection Filters Three Each unit has a belt that is fully adjustable to accommodate all body size The motor is self contained and water resistant, it can be washed in the shower Each unit holds two batteries and each slot for a battery should be filled with a battery or a battery cover. The batteries should last about 6 hours each. There are three filter covers and there should be a filter on each connection. Do not under any circumstances remove the cover and use without a filter in place The hose connection has a gray washer. Make sure it is in place before you hook up the air hose. All the filters we use will provide protection against most if not all the chemicals we may be exposed to.

PAPR Hose Connection Cover Filter Cover Put each cover on the appropriate area on the PAPR. There are 3 covers to cover the filter threads. There is a single cap to cover the hose connection site.
Hood and Hose Connection Hose Clamp Hood Hose Each hood is a double layer hood. It should be one of the last things put on , and do not put it on until the PAPR is hooked up and running otherwise you will get very hot and sweaty. Do not tuck it into the suit
Hood The end of the hose should extend in at least a hand width from the end of each tube. Secure it in place with the clamp.

General Donning Procedure Suit: Pull it halfway up and then sit Boots: Inner boots are part of the suit Outer boots placed over inner boots Tape both boots Put on inner gloves on and then pull suit up and zip Put on outer gloves and then tape sleeves Don PAPR

Taping Outer Glove to Sleeve The outer glove should be placed over the sleeve and taped
Donning the Hood Once the suit is completely taped the PAPR should be turned on and the hood placed on. The use of the head gear is optional.
Donning the Hood Make sure the hood is in place over the back so water will cascade down
Compete Level C Ensemble
Decontaminate Yourself After you have decontaminated the patients you must decontaminate yourself by taking a quick shower with your full level ensemble on.
Showering after decontamination After completing decontamination each member must shower to remove any contamination. The PAPR’s are water proof so they can get wet. Reach up and grab the handle and rinse off.
Doffing the Suit Once the PAPR is removed Pull the tape covering the front zipper
HAZMAT Operations for ED Staff Doffing the Suit First unbuckle the strap and hold the PAPR in one hand and then remove the hood HAZMAT Operations for ED Staff
Doffing the Suit Remove the tape from the front zipper, keep the outer gloves on
Doffing the Suit Remove the tape completely
Doffing the Suit Place the tape in the appropriate bucket
Doffing the Suit Once the tape covering the front zipper is removed, remove the tape from the outer boots.
Doffing the Suit Pull one outer glove off . Once the glove is off take your hand under the other outer glove and remove it without touching the outer surface.
Doffing the Suit Pull outer tape off before taking your outer gloves off
Doffing the Suit Once the tape and the outer gloves are off reach inside to pull the zipper apart. Make sure you do not touch the outside Open the zipper
Doffing the Suit Take your clean inner glove and slide it under the outer glove and remove it taking care not to touch the outer glove.
Doffing the Suit Continue to pull the zipper apart until it is off

Doffing the Suit Reach into the suit and pull the arm out Do not turn the suit inside out as you will contaminate your arm
Doffing the Suit Pull your arm out using your other arm to help release the arm.
