Holocaust Book Panel Discussion INTRODUCTION Dramatic Reading: Significant Passage (2 people need to read it; DRAMATIC reading – emphasis, pauses, emotion, etc.) Hook: Engaging Introduction (that makes sense after your reading) Context: BRIEF summary of the novel (*include title, author, and background info) CLAIM (Answer this question: How was the theme “finding light in the darkness developed in your book?) 7) Another way we see the theme (literary element: characters, dialogue, plot, setting, figurative language, symbolism, etc) 8) Explain (and use text evidence – QUOTES) 5) One way we see the theme in the story (literary element: characters, dialogue, plot, setting, figurative language, symbolism, etc) 6) Explain (and use text evidence – QUOTES) BODY CONCLUSION 9) REWORD your claim 10) “From this story, we learn….” – this is where you really connect it back to US. Be specific. This should definitely be more than just one or two sentences…
