802.11 Groups 802.11n – High Throughput >100Mbps 802.11mb – New Maintenance group (compilation of all approved amendments) Currently finishing changes that could not be completed in time for 802.11-2007 802.11p – WAVE Wireless Vehicle communication 802.11u – Interworking with External Networks MAC changes to accommodate, among others, 802.21; relies on 11k, 11r; scope agreement with 11v 802.11v – Wireless Network Management Management protocol additions; AP-AP negotiations; load balancing; access controls 802.11w – Protecting Management Frames Security for management frames, including broadcast frames; relies on 11k, 11r and 11u 802.11z – Direct Link Setup Enabling Direct Link with legacy APs 802.11aa - Video Transport Streaming Additions to support video 802.11ac – Very High Throughput <6GHz Successor to 802.11n at frequencies less than 6GHz 802.11ad – Very High Throughput 60GHz Successor to 802.11n at 60GHz

802.11 TGmb 802.11 Accumulated Maintenance Changes Comment/Input period on 802.11-2007 plus approved RevCom amendments ended last November. Number of comments: 102 Resolutions to these comments is in process; all technical comments have been addressed, and editorial comments are now being addressed. Adrian Stevens volunteered to become editor A preliminary draft incorporating 802.11k-2008, 802.11r-2008, and 802.11y-2008 has been developed. Matthew Gast

802.11 TGn High Throughput First Recirculation Sponsor ballot on IEEE 802.11n D8.0 closed 3/6/2009. Results: 169/42/17 80.09% Working on resolving the 77 comments from Recirculation Sponsor Ballot; probably finish up this afternoon. Will probably recirculate a new draft to sponsor ballot coming out of this meeting Plan is to ask ExCom in July for unconditional approval to publish Bruce Kraemer

802.11 TGp Wireless Access for the Vehicular Environment First recirculation WG ballot LB 141 on draft 5.0 closed December 5, 2008. Results 149/26/35 85.14%. TGp has resolved all the 221 comments from LB141. Draft 6.0 will go to recirculation after this week. Lee Armstrong/Stuart Kerry

802.11 TGs Mesh Networking Finished working on resolving comments from LB126; will go out for the third initial WG ballot after the March meeting. Donald Eastlake

802.11 TGu InterWorking with External Networks Second recirculation WG ballot LB 142 on draft 5.0 closed February 20. Results are 125/27/39 82.24%. 376 comments received: 170 technical, 206 editorial Expecting to go out to recirculation WG ballot on Draft 6.0 coming out of this meeting 5 MIH related comments; fairly trivial comments Stephen McCann

802.11 TGv Wireless Network Management Third initial WG ballot LB 140 on draft 4.0 closed December 19, 2008. Results are 149/36/40 80.54% Passed! TGv received 586 comments from LB140, and has largely addressed them. Next recirculation is expected going out of this meeting Dorothy Stanley

802.11 TGw Protected Management Frames First Recirculation Sponsor Ballot for IEEE 802.11w Draft 7.0 closed on January 18, 2009. Result: 99-13-9 88.39% 82 comments: 6 general, 30 editorial, 46 technical. Public action frames have become an urgent issue now, with competing requirements from various task groups, and that issue has delayed issuing a recirculation. Coordination among various task groups to resolve the issue is on-going, and hopefully a resolution will be reached within the next two weeks, thus allowing the draft to be recirculated. 802.11 TGz Extensions to Direct Link Setup First recirculation WG LB143 on Draft 4.0 closed on March 5, 2009. Results are 170/23/37 88.08% Working on resolving the 160 comments received, 99 technical. Draft 5.0 will possibly go out for second recirculation WG letter ballot after the May meeting. JTC1/SC6 Ad-Hoc ISO/IEC JTC1/SC6 Completed 11-09-0168-06-0jtc-draft-liaison-letter-response.doc which is a liaison letter responding to the liaison request from SC6 requesting 802.11 to continue using the normal fast track process and also to allow IEEE 802 to become a category A liaison. The liaison response politely turned them down. Completed 11-09-0351-01-0jtc-draft-liaison-response-to-sc6-documents.doc from 802.11 to SC6 commenting on proposals to start a group in ISO/IEC to work on WAPI Initiating a PDSO submission of P802.11-2007 has been delayed for about a year as certain issues with the PDSO are resolved. Began planning for the SC6 meeting in Tokyo in June. Jesse Walker
