Presentation transcript:

Pick 4 materials which will stop the snowmen from melting. Using the snow outside, create your own experiment similar to the one completed during our States of Matter topic. We would like you to think of 4 materials from home that you would like to test to find out which is the best insulator. Remember, an insulator is: a material or an object that does not easily allow heat, electricity, light, or sound to pass through it. Material Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 1. 2. 3. 4. Step by Step Task: Create 4 small snowmen. Pick 4 materials which will stop the snowmen from melting. Wrap each of the snowmen in a material. Observe if the snowman is still the same size or smaller, has it begun to melt, what changes can you see? Which snowman melted the least? Which material is the best insulator? The ________________________ was the best insulator whereas the _____________________ was the worst.
