DC Sidewalk Law & DDOT Policy Priority Sidewalk Assurance Act of 2010 To require the installation of sidewalks to ensure a safe and accessible environment for pedestrians and persons with disabilities, to establish minimum design and consultation requirements, and to provide for exemptions. DDOT Sidewalk Policy, issued 2015 Process requirements for 60 day NOI and 30 day design review, details and specifics on prioritizing, etc.

Prioritization For streets missing sidewalks, but not undergoing major reconstruction, they shall be prioritized for these areas: Missing sidewalks in school areas; Routes that provide access to parks and recreational areas; Transit stops; Locations where the absence of a sidewalk creates substantial safety risks; Segments for which residents petitioned to have sidewalks
