Assessing Risk in Sport The Risk Assessment Process

Weighing up the Risk Always consider the following Likelyhood X Severity 1 Unlikely: No injury / minor incident 2 Unlikely: Be aware of this possible risk 3 Quite Likely: May result in a minor injury 4 Quite Likely: May result in injury without strict control measures 5 Very Likely: Could result in a major injury or fatality without strict control measures

Is the Risk Worth Taking? Likely hood X Severity Risk worth taking 1 Yes 2 Yes, with caution 3 Yes, with extreme caution 4 Possibly, with extreme caution 5 or above No Likelyhood X Severity 1 Unlikely: No injury / minor incident 2 Unlikely: Be aware of this possible risk 3 Quite Likely: May result in a minor injury 4 Quite Likely: May result in injury without strict control measures 5 Very Likely: Could result in a major injury or fatality without strict control measures
