Campylobacter Jejuni By: Blake Carlson (Easy Blake Oven)

Camplobacter Jejuni is a curved, rod-shaped bacteria. Classifacation Kingdom: Bacteria Phylum: Proteobacteria Class: Epsilon Proteobacteria Order: Campylobacterales Family: Campylobacteraceae Camplobacter Jejuni is a curved, rod-shaped bacteria.

Cell Structure and Matabolism Campylobacter Jejuni is a Gram-negative bacteria and is a microaerophilic organism. Cell contains inner and outer membrane Endotoxic

Habitat Campylobacter Jejuni grows best at 42oC (107oF) with low oxygen concentrations. Most commonly found in the intestines of warm-blooded birds and mammals.

WOW! Causes more diseases than Shigella and Salmonella combined. Frequently contaminates raw chicken. Surveys show 20 to 100% of retail chickens are contaminated. (Many healthy chickens carry the bacteria in their intestinal tract. Although anyone can contract the bacteria, it targets children under 5 years old, and young adults ages 15-29.
