Dos and Don’ts: DO: DON’T: Support your textual evidence with meaningful commentary Relate back to your thesis Include buzz words AND answer the question in thesis Give the reader something to think about in the conclusion sentence Stay on topic Introduce your evidence with context (what’s going on in the text at that point?) DON’T: Include opinion, personal pronouns, or contractions Simply restate the thesis in your conclusion sentence Say “In conclusion…” or “This quote shows…” or “An example is…” Take up most of your CR with a crazy amount of quote Give evidence that has nothing to do with the thesis
