Figure 1 The Picky YTHDF2 As one of the primary m6A readers in the cytoplasm, YTHDF2 promotes mRNA degradation and facilitates transcriptome switching. It targets a specific cohort of mRNA transcripts and functions during defined stages of several biological processes, including murine oocyte maturation (and possibly early zygotic development, shown by dotted line) and zebrafish maternal-to-zygotic transition during embryogenesis.
