Mrs. DeVaults Blended Syllabus and Class Instruction

Classroom Courtesy Take off your headphones when you walk in the room and put your cell phone away Clear your desk for learning with your backpack and/or purses on the floor and desks Do not do anything that disrupts your learning or the learning of classmates Stay in assigned seats

Grades Grades for this class Check your grades on IC often 60% classwork/homework 40% tests Check your grades on IC often Double check and make sure you have received credit for all work I keep all work, and do not return to you unless it needs to be redone

Turning in Work Go over PowerPoint for Note Taking instructions At least 3 assignments need to be completed and turned in each week. Baskets for each period are by the door Go over PowerPoint for Note Taking instructions

Credit Recovery Students Credit for work in prior classes: Some students are given the opportunity to carry over credit for assignments or tests passed in prior classes In order to take advantage of this, you will be given a time period in which all work for this class must be done If the work is not completed in the given time period, you will NOT receive credit for prior class assignments or tests, and will then need to repeat the whole course

Grading Periods Grading Periods D/F notice Progress Report Final Grade

Due Dates and Absences Since all work is online, being absent is not an excuse to get your work done and turned in on time. You may do the work anytime, anywhere, as long as you have internet connection. Also, if I am not at school and there is a substitute the same standard applies, as well as the expectation that you will follow all classroom rules and guidelines 

Flexing Out You may “flex” out of class after the first D/F notice, meaning you DO NOT need to attend class, as long as you have at least 70% in the class You are still expected to meet all deadlines If your grade drops below 70%, you will be required to attend class everyday. If at that time, you do not attend class, you will be marked absent and your parents may receive a phone call from the school You are always welcome to attend class anytime. I will be here 

Flexing Out 6th Period Students flexing out 6th period MUST leave campus When you flex out, you must sign out at attendance when you leave. *If you have Hayden or Morris, you may flex to their classroom with both of our consents

Class Time When in class, you are expected to do school work. If you are finished with the work for this class, you may work on other school work Cell phones are to stay in your pocket or backpack and NOT be used in class unless I give the okay

General Rules Do not copy other students work - you will both receive a 0  Write in complete sentences All EQ answers must have 5 complete numbered sentences answering the Essential Question (see Notes PowerPoint)

Your iPad Procedure At the beginning of class During class Hand me your student ID or write your name on one of the small papers on the cart During class If you have to leave the class to go to the restroom or office, return the iPad to me. Do not leave your iPad unattended at your desk At the end of class Close out the class websites Return the iPad and receive your school ID back

Next is a big list of “Do Not’s”

iPads Rules These are all logical appropriate rules for the use of school iPads but I will spell it out, so there are no misunderstandings: Do not download anything on the iPad Do not play games on the iPad. Do not load a VPN app. Do not use the camera or screenshot function Do not change any of the settings Do not go to any websites except those used for this class Do not scratch the surface of the iPad Do not take off the iPad cover

iPads If you find anything on the iPad that does not comply with these rules please show it to me right away. If you do not, you could be held responsible. Sounds a little stressful, but as long as you are here to work on academics and are serious about passing this class, you will have no problems.

Restroom Use the restroom before class If you must use the restroom do it before the PowerPoint lecture begins or wait until it is over Ask and receive permission before you leave Limit using the restroom to once a week during this period (not a daily habit of leaving class) If you come to class late, you may not leave for a drink or the restroom during class.

Questions? Ask Mrs. DeVault anytime you need help or clarification You may text me at (951) 609-4597 (school cell phone) I will be available by text until 6:00pm each night. Again, text message only I am at school from 10:30 to 4:30 – 4th - 8th periods. My 4th and 5th period classes are regular (non-blended classes) so please do not interrupt during those times. I am usually available during lunch
