When was World War 1 The Australians got into the war when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot dead by a Sabin on the 28th June 1914. World War 1 started in August 1914 but Australia first fought in 1915 on April 25th. Australia was on Great Britain, New Zealand, France, India Russia, Canada and the United States side.

Where is Gallipoli? Gallipoli is west between the Marmara sea and the Aegean sea. It is important to Australian history because it is where the Australian troops fought for our country, to make it a great country.

What does ANZAC mean ANZAC means Australian New Zealand Army Corps. Anzac originated from the Australian and New Zealand troops.

World War 1 guns

Why do we commemorate ANZAC Day? We commemorate ANZAC Day because of all of the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought for our country. ANZAC day is commemorated on the 15th of April because that’s when the ANZACs went to Gallipoli.

What have we learnt so far? What does ANZAC stand for? Answer: When was world war 1? Answer: Why do we commemorate ANZAC Day? Answer: Where's Gallipoli? Answer:

My thoughts One of my great grandpa's went to war and was captured. He was a private and when he got out he wasn’t able to fit into his belt. I think ANZAC day is great and is a sad day for Australia but a good for Australia because of the soldiers fought for us.

How do we commemorate ANZAC Day? The Last Post is a song played by a trumpet and was played to start war. A poppy is worn on ANZAC Day because it was the first flower in Gallipoli and represents blood and death and every one is meant to be a soldier. We commemorate ANZAC Day by having a ceremony. We lay wreaths and have a minute silence and lots more things.
