Fishing for Numbers: Students looked for “Number Fish.” They looked for numbers 1-10 and put them in a row! Self Portrait: Students used a mirror to look at themselves and draw a self portrait. Skills Addressed: Patterns Shapes Number Recognition Counting Fine Motor Skills Tip of the Week: Please read to your child at home as much as possible! We are working on letter recognition and reading is a great way to improve this skill! Classroom Needs: Thank you for all of the donations for our Movie Basket! We really appreciate it! Special Information: Our Basket Auction is March 22nd! Tickets are still available! Parent Links: Math for preschoolers is much more than rote counting.  It includes many concepts, including understanding and comparing quantities, exploring shapes and spatial relationships, comparing sizes, measuring, creating patterns, and interpreting data. Below is the link to our recent Parent Academy workshop on ways to reinforce math skills at home. At your leisure, please take a look to review what we discussed, or to view it for the first time if you didn’t have a chance to join us. We think you will find some fun and easy activities to do with your child to strengthen math skills! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQ54WPt-F9Y&t=0s&list=PL13FzTs1jFkCN3W5o8uJabyuY_FnaquYn&index=5   We would also like to share an article on ways to encourage your child’s math skills while running everyday errands. We hope you’ll find it helpful. https://illinoisearlylearning.org/tipsheets/mathactivities/ Contact Us: ehannigan @pemb.org jguagliardo@pemb.org
