Peppernuts What: Peppernuts a small spiced cookie. When it is eaten: around Christmas time. How it is part of my culture: My great grandma was adopted by an American-German family when she was younger and this is who she learned the recipe from. When I was young she would always send us Christmas sweets and peppernuts were always included. She shared the recipe with my mom, my mom shared it with me, and I plan to share it with my children. Why they stand out to me: They remind me of my family and getting together during the holidays. Origin: From Germany, Belgium, and Denmark - eaten during the time St. Nicholas visits.
