Ms. Taylor’s Sailors Mark Your Calendar WEEKLY HOMEWORK 2nd Grade 770-578-7200 jessica.taylor2@cobbk12.org Ms. Taylor’s Sailors Week of October 15, 2018 A Peek at Our Week WEEKLY HOMEWORK Reading: Ask and Answer Questions We will learn how to ask and answer questions such as who, what, when, where, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in an informational text. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the October writing calendar Math: Place Value We will learn how the three digits of a three digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones. We will also read and write numbers to 1,000 using different forms. We will also count within 1,000 and skip count by 5’s, 10’s, and 100’s. Math IXL Practice – math facts within 20 Practice skip counting out loud by 5’s, 10’s, and 100’s within 1,000. Writing: Informational Text We will learn how to write an informative/ explanatory text that includes all of the following: introduce the topic, uses facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section. Spelling Complete S.O.S. for the weekly words – should, since, and sometimes Choose a spelling activity from the October Speller’s Choice Reading Read a nonfiction book for 20 minutes and practice asking questions as you read Raz Kids Social Studies: Creek and Cherokee We will compare and contrasts the Georgia Creek and Cherokee cultures of the past to those of Georgians today in terms of tools, clothing, homes, ways of making a living, and accomplishments. S.S./ Science Using your Creek and Cherokee flip book, have a discussion about the following question: How is your house, food, clothes, and jobs different from the Creek and Cherokee?
