Your Task: Create your Parable to explain the Simile You created about the KOG Your Parable must Include: A simile that compares the kingdom to something in our modern world that people can relate to A 3-10 sentence story that develops the lesson behind the simile Symbolism that represents the message

How to Write a Parable: Think of the lesson that you want to teach with your simile All are called to be part of the Kingdom, but in the end, the good/faithful will be sorted from the bad/faithless We must love our faith and live out our faith if we want to be close to God and get into heaven We must be willing to give up our attachment to sin (devil, flesh, world) to get into Heaven Example Simile: The KOG is like a Spam Filter. Think of the lesson that you want to teach with your simile All are called to be part of the Kingdom, but in the end, the good/faithful will be sorted from the bad/faithless

How to Write a Parable: Example Simile: The KOG is like a Spam Filter. 2. Ask yourself, can my simile teach that lesson? No--A spam filter won’t work because it isn’t what accepts all the emails REVISION: The KOG is like an email account 2. Ask yourself, can my simile teach that lesson? Yes --move on to next step No. Think of a new simile OR Think of a new lesson

How to Write a Parable: Example Simile: The KOG is like an email account. 3. Come up with a story that explain the lesson using your simile 3. Come up with a story that explain the lesson using your simile The KOG is like an email account. When emails are sent to my email account, all of them come in--the good emails that I want, and the junk emails that I don’t want. The Spam Filter then sorts the good emails from the bad emails. It send the good email from people who actually know me to my inbox and sends the junk email from people who don’t know me to the trash can.

How to Write a Parable: 4. Interpret the symbols that are used in your parable. Example Simile: The KOG is like an email account. Email account= KOG/Heaven/the Church Emails= all the people on earth/members of the Church Good emails= the faithful Bad emails= the unfaithful Spam Filter= the angels sorting the good from the bad at the end of time Inbox= Heaven, where the faithful/good people go Trash= Hell, where the unfaithful/bad go
