Presentation transcript:

Community Engagement in Disaster Response: Rapid Information Communication Accountability Assessment (RICAA) Gil Francis Arevalo, Humanitarian Affairs Analyst, UN OCHA 21 February 2017

Topics: Gaps and challenges (agency specific versus joint conduct of assessment at the field level) Consolidation of assessment results, information protocol, reporting mechanism and its impact in the overall disaster preparedness and humanitarian response (strategic versus operational level) How can RICAA be a tool to combat rumors? Can it be an entry point towards an in-depth community consultation? (lifesaving versus evolving information needs of the affected communities)

Group work Share any experience in conducting RICAA as an agency, joint/collective effort or part of the field-level working group (first 72 hours deployment) How do you integrate the RICAA questions in various forms of assessment? Was the data useful? How fast can you share the info/assessment results? Through what channels do you share the information? Is it accessible?

Thank You (Salamat, Gracias) More Power!!!
