Troubleshooting Hardware Devices Troubleshooting Hardware Devices Device Manager provides a hardware device troubleshooter to help resolve device problems. To troubleshoot hardware devices: Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. In the System Properties sheet, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. In Device Manager, right-click the device for which you want to view device settings, and then click Properties. On the General tab, view the device status. If you are having problems with the device, click Troubleshoot. Follow the instructions provided in the Help and Support Center.

Safe Removal Application Click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the notification area, which displays a dialog box listing the devices currently attached to the system. Select the device you wish to remove from the list of devices. Click Stop to tell the operating system that you will be unplugging the device. In the Stop a Hardware device dialog box, click OK. You will see a notification, which tells you that it is safe to remove hardware. The requested device can now be safely removed from the system.
