Be In Submission 1 Peter 2:13-17

Areas Of Submission In 1 Peter Recognize the standing Governing authorities (1 Peter 2:13-17) Not something that is optional (Titus 3:1-2) Governing bodies are from God (Rom. 13:1-7) Daniel rendered exemplary service to his king (Dan. 6:3-4) Despite that they were ideal men (Dan. 4:17, 25) Limitations to be observed (Acts 5:29) Practical application (1 Tim. 2:1-2)

Areas Of Submission In 1 Peter Masters (1 Peter 2:18-20) Servants at this time might be voluntary and involuntary, with more the latter than the former Practical reasons are given (1 Tim. 6:1-2; Titus 2:9-10) Servants AND masters are amenable to a higher Master (Eph. 6:5-9)

Areas Of Submission In 1 Peter Wives to husbands (1 Peter 3:1-6) As Christ is to the church (Eph. 5:22, 24, 33) Husbands are not the ultimate authority (1 Cor. 11:3) Husbands are not autocratic tyrants (Eph. 25, 28- 29, 33; 1 Peter 3:7) May work toward his conversion (1 Peter 3:1-2) As is “fitting in the Lord” (Col. 3:18)

Areas Of Submission In 1 Peter In the church (1 Peter 5:5) To bishops who “watch over your souls” (Heb. 13:17) To one another “in the fear of God” (Eph. 5:21)

An Example Of Submission Philippians 2:1-8 - - Voluntary compliance 1 Peter 2:21-25 - - Does not rebel Luke 22:42 - - Surrendering the will John 10:4-5, 14, 27
