Implementation of ISCED 2011 ISCED = International Standard Classification of Education ISCED 2011 to be implemented from 2014 in all EU sources (DSS September 2011) Item 2.4: Amendment of Regulations on LFS, SILC, AES and SES Item 3.8: Amendment of Regulation on statistics on education and training systems (UOE)

Implementation of ISCED 2011 in surveys ISCED: 8 positions at 1 digit level Coding at 1 digit level for LFS, AES and SILC (except ISCED 3, more details) Grouping of 1 digit level for other surveys (3 groups) Implementation manuals and mappings (including EA for LFS, etc..) under development, ISCED workshop in Feb. 2013

Outcomes of the DSS consultation Support from all countries with few comments Coding for LFS/AES is in the Regulation Coding for SILC is in a manual (as agreed in last ILCS WG) CZ, DE Request for more details (DE): Orientation of programmes for ISCED 3/4 (vocational / general) for all ages: proposal for restricting to graduates in last 15 years sufficient for EU needs Division academic / professional at ISCED 5-8: Too early: no implementation guidelines made available by UNESCO, to be discussed at EU level (ISCED workshop)

Conclusion The DSS is invited to agree to forward the draft Commission Regulation introducing ISCED 2011 in EU surveys (LFS, SILC, AES, SES) to the ESS Committee meeting of 15 November 2012
