WINTER PROVISION FOR ROUGH SLEEPERS - DECEMBER 2018 - PLEASE NOTE WE ARE CLOSED 25TH, 26TH AND 1ST JANUARY 2019 KEEP WARM, KEEP WELL ALTERNATIVE SERVICES Check up on older neighbours and relatives to make sure: - They’re safe and well Make sure their home is warm, especially at night Have stocks of food and medicines so they don’t need to go out in the cold weather If you’re worried contact Age UK helpline on 0800 678 1174 As we are approaching one of the most pressurised times of the year in the surgery it is important for you, our patients, to be aware that not all conditions need to be dealt with in the surgery, so when we direct you to a more appropriate option i.e. Walk In Centre, Chemist or Bury Minor Eye Condition service etc. It’s not that we don’t care about you and are trying to ‘fob you off’, but we are ensuring that you are seen by the right person in the right setting at the right time. Here is a list of useful contacts for accessing health care: Prestwich Walk In Centre (Open daily from 12pm – 8pm) Your Local Chemist (Can help with everyday ailments such as diarrhoea, headaches, bites and strings, coughs and colds, runny noses, sore throats and minor infections) Bury Minor Eye Conditions (If you have any minor eye complaints, visit www.burymecs.co.uk) Emergency Dentist (Urgent in hours 0161 447 9898, Urgent Out of House 0161 763 8941) Sexual Health Service (Contact 03003038565 or for more info visit www.sexualhealthbury.co.uk) NHS 111 (This is the free number to call for urgent healthcare, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, calls are free from landlines and mobile phones) FLU REMINDER We currently have a drop in service from 2pm – 6pm, Mon – Fri. If you know someone who is housebound and requires the flu vaccine, please let reception know so we can arrange one of our nurses to visit them. WINTER PROVISION FOR ROUGH SLEEPERS Bury Council have made a commitment to provide winter provision for all rough sleepers in the streets in Bury. From 1st November 2018 – 31st March 2019 they will provide a bed for the night, food, warm drinks, and support in accessing more permanent housing. Rough sleepers can present to the Housing Reception at Bury Town Hall to complete the referral and relevant forms. The reception is open Monday to Friday, between 10am and 1pm. The venue for the Winter Provision will be the Freedom Church, Link House, 35 Walmersley Rd, Bury, BL9 5AE.
