“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” 1 Corinthians 2:5

The Quality of Your Faith Depends on the Quality of Your Evidence! Do You Believe… That God exists? That the Bible is God’s word? That Jesus is God’s Son? What is the basis or your belief? How good is your evidence? The Quality of Your Faith Depends on the Quality of Your Evidence!

Evidence is… “The available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid.” “Facts or signs on which a conclusion can be based.” “That which enables the mind to see truth; proof arising from our own perceptions by the senses, or from the testimony of others, or from inductions of reason.” “Material that is presented to a court of law to help find the truth about something” (i.e. testimony, forensic, circumstantial)

What should be the Basis of Your Faith? John 19:35 John 20:30-31 Luke 1:1-4 Acts 10:39-43 Acts 14:15-17 Hebrews 2:2-4

We need EVIDENCE to Defend & Contend for Our Faith! Jude 3 1 Peter 3:15 Philippians 1:16-17 In these last two verses the word for “defense” is “apologia” Apologetics is defined as “reasoned arguments or writings in justification of something” Apologetics involves learning how to defend our faith with words and arguments based on the evidence.

We have a responsibility to know how to answer! Colossians 4:5-6 -- “Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” What experiences have you had in defending or explaining your faith? Do you feel the need to be better prepared?
