2 PLUG INTO SAFETY APRIL REVIEW TOP ISSUES BE SAFE STAY SAFE PLUG INTO SAFETY APRIL 2 REVIEW TOP ISSUES Use a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) with any cord used to power heavy equipment and equipment used in or around water. Using extension cords Cord Safety Pointers & Notes Always safety check cords before use & keep under 25 feet. Water conducts electricity. Avoid cords in water. If working with water always use a GFI. Don’t use cords with broken ground pin – the third pin. Pull the plug, not the cord every time. If equipment or cord gives even the smallest shock STOP – don’t use. If a cord is damaged remove from service and ask for repair. Don’t repair yourself. Only used cords approved for hard surfaces. Markings include: S, ST, SO, STO, SJ, SJO, SJT. Frayed cords – REPORT do NOT fix or use. Do NOT tie cords together Use a power cord connector Frayed cords & those repeatedly tied in knots will break / expose inner wires and can create a hazard.
